What a candy cane superficial liposuction cannula is
Look at the end of this cannula and you see why it carries the name. The ports are not lined up along one side the way they are on a one hole or a three hole pattern. They are cut on a slant and set at different points around the tube, so the openings wind round the shaft like the red stripe on a candy cane. The tube itself runs dead straight from the hub to the tip.
The word superficial is about where the cannula works. It is meant for the fat that lies just under the skin, the layer a surgeon is shaping when the job is definition rather than bulk removal. Google AI Mode, read on 23 October 2026, lists superficial definition, body sculpting and fat harvesting as its uses, and names high definition liposuction, the etching of lines on the abdomen, as one of them. On that reading it is a high definition liposuction cannula as much as a superficial one.
In the trade it also turns up as a candy cane superficial cannula, or simply as a candy cane tip cannula. All three names point at the same spiral end.
Key design features
Ports on a spiral
In our close up photograph of this cannula there are two long ports on the upper side of the shaft and a smaller opening on the underside between them. Each one is cut at a slant, and each faces a different way. The point of a spiral is that the shaft draws from more than one side without a ring of holes at one station, so the openings are spread along the end of the tube instead of bunched together.
A closed tip
The end of the tube is closed. It leads the shaft through the fat, and because nothing opens at the very end, the spiral ports behind it are the only places the cannula draws from. In our photograph the first port starts a little way back from the point, so the very end is solid steel.
Seven ways to finish the back end
The order form offers seven ways to finish the back end: a super fix handle in style A or style B, an aluminum Luer lock, a steel Luer lock, a super Luer lock, a Toomey hub, or a threaded fitting. A Luer lock screws onto a syringe or a Luer handle, and the Toomey hub takes a 60 cc Toomey syringe for harvesting by hand. The super fix handles make the cannula one piece for a suction line. The hub sets the price: 22 dollars with the aluminum or steel Luer lock, 32 with the super Luer lock or the threaded fitting, 37 with the Toomey hub, and 45 or 55 with a super fix handle.
Every length at every diameter
Most cannulas in this family skip a length here and there. This one does not. Each of the five diameters, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 mm, is made in all six lengths from 20 to 45 cm, thirty sizes in all. The 6 and 7 mm are the largest we offer anywhere in the family, and the 40 and 45 cm the longest.
Which size to order
Thirty sizes, read off our own order form on 23 October 2026. The size does not change the price; only the hub does.
| Diameter | Lengths on the order form | How many |
|---|---|---|
| 3 mm | 20 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm, 35 cm, 40 cm, 45 cm | 6 |
| 4 mm | 20 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm, 35 cm, 40 cm, 45 cm | 6 |
| 5 mm | 20 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm, 35 cm, 40 cm, 45 cm | 6 |
| 6 mm | 20 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm, 35 cm, 40 cm, 45 cm | 6 |
| 7 mm | 20 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm, 35 cm, 40 cm, 45 cm | 6 |
Where it is used
The first two columns come from the Google AI Mode answer read on 23 October 2026. They are its words about the pattern, not our measurements. The last column is ours.
| Use | What the answer says it is for | Where our sizes fit |
|---|---|---|
| Superficial definition | Shaping the fat layer just under the skin | 3 and 4 mm, 20 to 30 cm |
| High definition liposuction | Etching lines on the abdomen | 3 and 4 mm, 20 to 35 cm |
| Fibrous areas | Dense fat that resists a plain cannula | 4 and 5 mm, 25 to 40 cm |
| Gynecomastia | Firm fat in the male chest | 4 and 5 mm, 20 to 30 cm |
| Fat harvesting | Fat taken for grafting | 4, 5 and 6 mm, on a Toomey hub or a Luer lock syringe |
What it is for, and what it is not for
No single cannula does every job. The table names the jobs where another cannula of ours does the work better.
| Job | Use this cannula? | What to use instead |
|---|---|---|
| Shaping close under the skin | Yes | This is the job it is made for |
| Fat taken for grafting | Yes | Or a harvester such as our Carraway harvester cannula |
| Large volume removal on the abdomen or thighs | In the larger sizes | A Mercedes or a triple Mercedes, with more ports |
| Infusing tumescent fluid | No | An infiltration cannula, from our tumescent infiltration range |
| A motor driven handpiece | Not this listing | Our power assisted cannulas, which carry their own hub |
How it compares with the rest of the spiral family
Four spiral patterns sit in this category. The second column is read off each listing, and the last off each product’s own order form.
| Pattern | What the listing shows | What that is for | On our order form |
|---|---|---|---|
| Candy cane superficial (this page) | ports cut on a spiral around the shaft behind a closed tip, three in our photograph | passes close under the skin and finishing work | 3 to 7 mm, 20 to 45 cm, 7 hub styles |
| Candy cane | three elongated ports set in a spiral, as its name on the listing says | harvesting and general aspiration | no size or hub choice on the listing, so tell us both when you order |
| Helix 3 port | three ports on a helix, as its name on the listing says | aspiration with ports facing several ways | 3 to 5 mm, 25 to 35 cm, 7 hub styles |
| Carraway harvester | spiral ports, three or six by the first choice on its form | harvesting fat for grafting | 2 to 5 mm, 15 to 35 cm, 7 hub styles; a first choice of port pattern: Tri-port (3 hole) or Six Ports |
Materials and finish
Every candy cane superficial cannula we make is formed from high quality medical grade stainless steel. The steel itself is made to a German specification. We do not publish a grade number.
The spiral ports are cut through the wall of the tube, and their edges are what tissue passes over on the way in. The shaft is straight. On the aluminum Luer lock the hub is aluminum, and on the steel Luer lock it is steel; the hub changes how the cannula connects and nothing about the tip.
Caring for it
Flush it as soon as it comes out of use, then push a brush through the full length of the lumen and work each port from the outside, because a slanted port holds tissue in its lower edge. Look through the tube against a light to be sure it is clear. Dry it, steam sterilize it on the normal instrument cycle, and store it straight. A long cannula bends more easily than a short one, and a bent cannula does not run true, so the 40 and 45 cm lengths want a tray that holds them flat.
Ordering and wholesale
The candy cane superficial liposuction cannula is made by Adas Instruments in our own workshop and sold direct, which is why the price sits where it does against the catalog houses. Order one for a single tray, or in quantity for a hospital list or a distributor line. We do OEM work under your own brand and your own item numbers. Send us a sample and we will hold a run to your pattern rather than ours. Stock items ship from our own workshop. Backorder items take 10 to 12 working days to make. Every instrument carries a three year replacement warranty against manufacturing defects. Production is controlled under an ISO 13485 quality management system.
Frequently asked questions
What is a candy cane superficial liposuction cannula used for?
It is used for sculpting and definition in the fat just under the skin, and for fat harvesting. The AI Mode answer we read also names high definition work on the abdomen, fibrous areas and gynecomastia. Which areas it goes into is the surgeon’s call.
What are the different types of liposuction cannulas?
They are told apart by the tip and the ports. A one hole draws from a single point, a Mercedes from a ring of three, a basket or a grater roughens fibrous fat, and a spiral pattern like this one spreads its ports round the shaft. Our whole range is in the aspiration cannulas category.
What size candy cane superficial liposuction cannula should I order?
That depends on the area and on the surgeon. What we make is 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 mm, each in 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 cm, thirty sizes in all. The size table above lists them. A fine diameter suits work close under the skin, and the larger ones suit harvesting and deeper passes.
Why is it called a candy cane superficial liposuction cannula?
Because of the ports, not the shape. They are cut on a slant and set around the tube in a spiral, so the end of the cannula looks striped like a candy cane. The shaft is straight; there is no hooked end. The same name is used across the trade for this spiral pattern.
How is it different from our candy cane liposuction cannula?
Both carry spiral ports. The candy cane superficial liposuction cannula comes in thirty sizes from 3 to 7 mm and 20 to 45 cm, with seven hubs to choose from on the order form. Our other candy cane listing has no size or hub choice, so you tell us both when you order.
