Built for work under the operating microscope. ADAS Instruments manufactures microsurgery instruments used in microvascular repair, replantation, nerve and hand surgery, covering jeweller pattern micro forceps, round handle needle holders with and without lock, spring handled micro scissors, vessel dilators, single and double approximator clamps and fine suction tubes. Bodies are turned and hand finished in our Sialkot factory from German surgical grade stainless steel, with tungsten carbide inserts available on holding and cutting patterns. Manufacturing runs under an ISO 13485 system and the range is CE marked. Ordering microsurgery instruments factory direct removes importer margin, and our OEM programme adds your logo, codes and packaging.

Microsurgery Instruments Manufactured in Our Own Factory

Microsurgical teams in plastic and reconstructive units, replantation centres, ophthalmic theatres and veterinary practices buy this section, along with distributors supplying them. The range starts at fine dissecting forceps with tip widths measured in tenths of a millimetre and extends through curved and straight spring scissors, vessel dilators, clip appliers, muscle hooks, iris and Castroviejo style needle holders and micro retractors. Each item is produced in house from bar stock: forging or turning, milling of the tips, heat treatment, grinding under magnification, then hand assembly and testing of the spring tension. Nothing is bought in and relabelled, which keeps tolerances and pricing under our control.

Working lengths commonly run from 10 cm to 21 cm, with counterbalanced round handles in 8 mm and 10 mm diameters. Tips are supplied straight, curved, angled or bayonet. Finishes include satin, matt black anti-glare and mirror polish. Tungsten carbide jaws are available on needle holders and scissors. All pieces are reusable and autoclavable at 134 degrees C. Buy single items or ask us to build a numbered microsurgery set in a perforated tray.

Choosing the Right Microsurgery Instruments

Matching tip size to vessel diameter

Tip width decides how much tissue you can hold without crushing it. For vessels below 1 mm, choose forceps with tips of 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm and a light spring. Vessels of 1 mm to 3 mm are handled comfortably with 0.3 mm tips. Reserve 0.5 mm and wider platforms for nerve coaptation and general fine dissection, where a broader tip spreads load and reduces the risk of tearing adventitia.

Choosing between locking and non locking needle holders

A lock holds the needle while you reposition your hands, which suits longer anastomoses and teaching. Many microvascular surgeons prefer a non locking round handle because releasing a catch transmits a small jolt to the needle tip. If you operate on vessels under 1 mm, start with a non locking holder with a flat platform. Keep one locking pattern in the tray for suture handling and knot work.

Handle length and balance at the microscope

Instrument length should let your hand rest on the table or a support while the tips sit at the field. Under a microscope at 10x to 20x magnification, 15 cm to 18 cm suits hand and forearm surgery, while deeper head and neck work benefits from 18 cm to 21 cm. Round handles allow rolling between finger and thumb. Ask for a knurled or fluted grip if you prefer more feedback through wet gloves.

Frequently Asked Questions

What magnification are these microsurgery instruments intended for?

Most patterns in this section are designed for loupe work at 3.5x to 6x and microscope work at 6x to 25x. Forceps with 0.1 mm and 0.2 mm tips are difficult to control below 6x, so they are usually reserved for microscope cases. If you work mainly under loupes, 0.3 mm and 0.4 mm tips give a more forgiving grip.

How should micro forceps be cleaned so the tips stay aligned?

Rinse immediately after use so protein does not dry on the tips, then clean with a soft brush along the shank rather than across the tip. Ultrasonic cleaning is acceptable if instruments are held in a rack that keeps tips clear of the wall. Autoclave at 134 degrees C with tip guards in place, and store them in a slotted tray.

Can you supply a complete microvascular set under our own brand?

Yes. Tell us the instrument list, or send a photograph of your existing tray, and we will quote a set with your logo laser marked on each shank and your catalogue numbers printed on the packaging. Minimum quantities are low, so small clinics and new distributors can start with a modest first order and repeat as demand grows.

Are tungsten carbide inserts worth it on micro needle holders?

On holders used daily with 8-0 and 9-0 suture, carbide jaws keep their grip far longer than plain steel and can be replaced when they finally wear. For occasional use, a smooth polished steel platform is cheaper and gentler on very fine needles. We supply both, and carbide versions carry the usual gold ring or gold handle marking.
