Edges that hold through a full list. ADAS Instruments manufactures plastic surgery scissors in the patterns aesthetic and reconstructive theatres actually use: Metzenbaum, Mayo, Iris, Stevens tenotomy, Ragnell, Kilner, Gorney, facelift and rhinoplasty scissors, plus fine spring handled models. Blades are drop forged in our Sialkot factory from German surgical grade stainless steel, hardened, ground on a jig and hand set so they cut cleanly from heel to tip, with tungsten carbide inserts and supercut edges available. The range carries CE marking and is produced under ISO 13485. All plastic surgery scissors are offered factory direct, with OEM and private label options.

Plastic Surgery Scissors Manufactured in Our Own Factory

This section serves plastic and aesthetic surgeons, ENT and oculoplastic teams, hand and burns units, and the dealers who resupply them. It spans blunt tipped dissecting scissors for raising flaps, sharp fine scissors for skin and suture, curved and straight blades, one and two ring handle geometries, delicate spring models for eyelid and microsurgical work, and heavier patterns for fascia and cartilage. Each pair is forged, milled, heat treated and tempered on site, then the blades are matched, the box joint is fitted and the closing tension is adjusted by hand until the cut is clean along the whole length. Every pair is tested on gauze before packing.

Lengths run from 9 cm for iris and spring patterns to 26 cm for long dissecting work. Blades are supplied straight, curved, strongly curved and angled on flat. Ring handles can be standard, offset or extra long for deep pockets. Gold rings mark tungsten carbide inserts and black rings mark supercut edges, following the usual convention. Finish is satin or mirror. Scissors are reusable, autoclavable at 134 degrees C and can be reground.

Choosing the Right Plastic Surgery Scissors

Curved blades or straight blades

Curved blades follow tissue planes, let you see the tip while dissecting and cut around structures rather than through them, which is why they dominate flap work. Straight blades are more accurate for trimming skin edges, cutting suture, shortening grafts and any cut you want to be flat. Most trays carry a curved dissecting pair and a straight fine pair. Strongly curved models suit deep pockets where the handle must clear the wound edge.

When tungsten carbide or supercut pays off

Plain steel blades are fine for occasional lists and cost the least. Tungsten carbide inserts hold an edge several times longer in fibrous tissue and can be replaced when worn, which suits busy body contouring and hand units. A supercut edge, one razor ground blade against one conventional blade, bites into slippery tissue and suture without pushing it forward. Carbide and supercut both need careful sharpening by someone who knows the geometry.

Never cut suture with your dissecting pair

Suture, wire and dressings blunt a dissecting edge faster than any tissue. Keep a dedicated Mayo or straight ligature pair on the tray for suture and give the Metzenbaum, Ragnell and iris scissors to tissue only. Colour coded rings or a marked handle help scrub staff enforce it. This single habit extends service intervals more than any material upgrade, and it applies to carbide pairs as much as plain steel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which scissors are used for facelift flap dissection?

Long blunt tipped scissors with a shallow curve are the usual choice, in the facelift or Gorney style at around 20 cm to 23 cm, so the tip reaches the midface from a preauricular incision. Blunt tips let you spread and lift as well as cut. Many surgeons pair them with a shorter curved Metzenbaum for the neck and a fine Ragnell near the earlobe.

How do I know a pair of scissors is properly set?

Close them slowly on a single layer of dry gauze from heel to tip. A correctly set pair cuts through without folding or pushing the fabric, and the blades stay in contact along the full stroke. Held to the light, closed blades should show no gap. Handles should return smoothly without grinding at the box joint. We test every pair this way before packing.

Do you supply scissors for wholesale and private label programmes?

Yes, this is one of our busiest OEM categories. We laser mark your brand on the shank, use your catalogue numbers, colour code rings if you want and pack to your artwork. Minimum quantities are kept low so a new distributor can test a range before committing. Wholesale price lists are issued against your selection, and hospital tender enquiries are welcome.

Can worn scissors be resharpened or fitted with new carbide?

They can. Plain steel blades are reground to the original bevel and reset at the joint. Carbide pairs can have the inserts replaced and the edges reground, which is usually cheaper than replacement. Send them with a note on what has gone wrong, blunt cutting, blade gap or a loose joint, and we will service and return them with the rest of your order.
