Fiber Optic Instruments Manufactured in Our Own Factory
Aesthetic surgeons working through short access incisions, general and endocrine surgeons operating in deep narrow pockets, ENT departments and hospital tender buyers order from this section. It spans narrow blades for periareolar pockets, long lighted retractors that hold an abdominoplasty flap, and combined suction retractors that clear smoke and fluid while lighting the cavity. Blades are pressed and profiled in our own plant, fiber channels are drilled and lapped before the bundle is laid, and each assembly is potted, cured and then light tested against a reference output before final polishing, marking and inspection.
Blade lengths generally run from 15 cm to 30 cm with widths from 15 mm to 40 mm, in flat, curved, toothed and double-ended forms. Light posts use standard fittings so a single cable can serve several instruments, and screw-in adapters are available for other common connectors. Bundles are sealed for full immersion cleaning and the complete instrument is autoclavable at 134 degrees C. Retractors are sold individually or as matched sets in a case.

Choosing the Right Fiber Optic Instruments
Matching the Light Post to Your Cable
Check which connector your theatre already uses before ordering, since the post determines whether one cable serves the whole set. Our instruments are supplied with standard light posts and threaded adapters are available to convert between the common fittings, so a mixed inventory can be brought onto one cable. Ordering all retractors with the same post saves time at set up and reduces the number of spare cables a department has to hold.
Choosing Blade Width and Length for the Pocket
Blade width governs how much tissue is held clear, while length decides how deep you can light. A 20 mm to 25 mm blade around 20 cm long suits most periareolar and axillary breast pockets. Wider 30 mm to 40 mm blades hold an abdominoplasty flap or a thyroid field more comfortably. Double-ended patterns give two widths on one shaft, which is useful when the same list mixes small and large pockets.
Caring for the Fiber Bundle
The bundle is the part that decides service life, so avoid crushing the shaft in clamps, dropping the instrument tip first, or bending it near the post. Broken fibers show as dark speckles when the instrument is held against a light source, and output falls gradually rather than all at once. Clean by immersion and brush the light post face, then autoclave at 134 degrees C using the cycle your department already validates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will your fiber optic retractors work with our existing light cable?
In most cases yes. Instruments are built with standard light posts and we supply threaded adapters that convert between the common connector types, so an existing cable and source can usually be kept. Tell us which fitting your theatre uses when ordering and we will fit or supply the matching post so the whole set runs on one cable.
How are fiber optic instruments cleaned and sterilized?
They are handled as ordinary reusable stainless instruments. The bundle is sealed inside the body, so the instrument can be fully immersed, brushed and processed in an ultrasonic bath, then autoclaved at 134 degrees C. Pay particular attention to the light post face, since dried protein there dims output more than anything else. Store flat so the shaft is not bent near the post.
Which blade size suits breast augmentation through a small incision?
A blade around 20 mm to 25 mm wide and roughly 20 cm long covers most periareolar and inframammary pockets, giving enough spread to see the pocket edge without stretching a short incision. Axillary approaches usually need a longer shaft. Surgeons using both approaches often keep one narrow and one wide lighted retractor rather than compromising on a single size.
Can we order fiber optic instruments under our own brand?
Yes. Private label supply is routine work for us, covering laser marked logos, your own catalog codes on the shaft and printed boxes or cases in your design. Minimum quantities are kept low so a distributor can test the market before committing to volume. Sample pieces are made and approved by you before the production batch is started.
