What a facial plastic surgery instruments set is
Surgery on the face is shallow and fine. Most of the work happens in skin, fat and thin muscle a few millimeters deep, so the instruments are short, light and sharp. This set holds that kind of instrument and nothing heavier: there are no bone instruments in it and no long deep retractors.
Google’s AI Overview, read on 3 November 2026, describes facial plastic surgery instruments as specialized stainless steel tools and leads with cutting and dissection: reusable scalpel handles with fine blades such as the No. 15, and fine scissors, Iris supercut scissors among them. Ours carries two scalpel handles with a No. 3 fitting, which takes the No. 15 blade, and four razor edge scissors. The overview also names facelift scissors and microdissection needles, and this set does not carry them.
Buyers look for facial plastic surgery instruments as a set, and also search for facial plastic surgery tools, face plastic surgery tools or cosmetic surgical instruments in general. This set covers the soft tissue part of that list in one box, with the cups for saline and the mat that holds the instruments in place.
Key design features
Four razor edge scissors
Two Mayo scissors, 14 cm, one straight and one curved, take the firmer cuts through tissue. A curved Metzenbaum scissors, 18 cm, dissects under a skin flap, and a curved Iris scissors, 11.5 cm, does the most delicate cutting close to the eyelid or a wound edge. All four carry tungsten carbide with a razor edge, as our list names them, so the set has one cutting pattern for each depth of the case.
Fine forceps and skin hooks
Two Adson forceps, 12 cm with 1 x 2 teeth, hold a skin edge without slipping, and a third, 15 cm and serrated without teeth, handles softer tissue. All three have tungsten carbide inserts. Two fine Iris forceps, straight with 1 x 2 teeth, work at the smallest scale. Two Joseph skin hooks with two prongs and a Gillies skin hook, 12 cm with a 2.5 mm hook, lift a flap with a single point of contact instead of a grip.
Retractors for the lid and the wound edge
Two Desmarres retractors, 10 mm and 12 mm, hold back an eyelid. Our list names them insulated, and in our photographs the blades are coated in blue. Two Senn Miller retractors, double ended, hold the edge of a short wound and swap ends as the cut deepens. That is the scale of retraction the face needs; a deeper field calls for a different tray.
Closure, clamps and the box
Two Mayo Hegar needle holders, 14 cm, and two serrated Baumgartner needle holders, 12 cm, all with tungsten carbide jaws, let two people close at once. Two Kelly forceps and two curved Halsted mosquito forceps, 14.5 cm, take the bleeding points, and two Backhaus clamps hold the drapes. Two Barron octagonal scalpel handles start the case. Everything packs into a 10 inch aluminum box on a silicone mat, with a small and a large surgical cup.

Materials and finish
Every instrument in the set is made from high quality medical grade stainless steel. The steel itself is made to a German specification. We do not publish a grade number. The scissors, the needle holders and the three Adson forceps carry tungsten carbide at the working end.
The box is aluminum, blue in our photographs, with a perforated lid and side walls so steam reaches the instruments, and the silicone mat keeps them from moving against each other in transit. The two cups are stainless steel and go through the same cycle as the instruments.
Caring for it
Rinse the set as soon as the case ends, before blood dries in the joints and the serrations. Keep the four razor edge scissors for tissue only; sutures and dressings blunt the carbide. Open the needle holders, the forceps and the clamps so the brush reaches the box joints. Check the coating on the two Desmarres retractors before each case and retire one whose coating is chipped. Dry, oil the joints lightly, lay the instruments on the mat, steam sterilize the box on the normal instrument cycle, and count the 28 instruments against the list before it is closed.
Ordering and wholesale
The facial plastic surgery instruments set is made by Adas Instruments in our own workshop and sold direct, which is why the price sits where it does against the catalog houses. Order one for a single tray, or in quantity for a hospital list or a distributor line. We do OEM work under your own brand and your own item numbers. Send us a sample and we will hold a run to your pattern rather than ours. Stock items ship from our own workshop. Backorder items take 10 to 12 working days to make. Every instrument carries a three year replacement warranty against manufacturing defects. Production is controlled under an ISO 13485 quality management system.
Frequently asked questions
What is a facial plastic surgery instruments set used for?
It is used for soft tissue surgery on the face: eyelid work, skin flap work in a facelift, the excision of small lesions and the closure of facial wounds. It holds fine scissors, forceps, skin hooks, small retractors, clamps and needle holders sized for skin and the thin layers beneath it.
What instruments are in a facial plastic surgery instruments set?
Ours holds four razor edge scissors, five fine forceps, three skin hooks, four small retractors, four needle holders, six clamps and two scalpel handles, 28 instruments in all. Two surgical cups, a 10 inch aluminum box and a silicone mat come with it. Every line is in the table on this page.
What does razor edge tungsten carbide mean on the scissors?
Tungsten carbide is a material much harder than the stainless steel of the blade, set in along the edge of each blade, and razor edge is the grind on it, as our list names it. The harder edge holds its sharpness longer between sharpenings, as long as the scissors are kept for tissue and not used on sutures.
Does the facial plastic surgery instruments set come with a sterilization box?
Yes. It comes in a 10 inch aluminum box with a perforated lid, a silicone mat to hold the instruments in place, and a small and a large surgical cup. The whole set, box included, goes through the steam cycle together.
How is this set different from our facelift instruments set?
Both are 435 dollars. This set is a general soft tissue tray for the face, with Desmarres retractors for the eyelid and four needle holders. Our facelift instruments set is built for the facelift itself, with long facelift scissors and a lighted retractor, and has 24 pieces.
