Materials and finish
Made from high quality medical grade stainless steel, satin finished so the operating light does not reflect off the shaft. The steel itself is made to a German specification. The inside edge of the thumb ring is rolled rather than left square, because a ring that is worn against a thumb through a long case will mark it if the edge is sharp.
Care and sterilization
Clean with a soft brush under running water, working between the prongs and around the inside of the ring where glove debris collects, then rinse in deionized water and dry fully before autoclaving. Store on a rack or under a tip guard. Check that the ring is still round: a ring bent out of shape stops fitting the thumb, and a retractor that has to be gripped instead of worn has lost the only thing that separates it from the standard pattern.
